Registered Charity Status

MyBednet is an initiative of the Against Malaria Foundation, a charity registered in the UK, US, Australia and a number of other countries.

The Foundation was set up in August 2004 with the explicit aim of handling the money raised through World Swim Against Malaria. Since then Against Malaria has launched a number of other initiatives and has developed a significant number of fundraising partnerships whereby groups raising funds for nets, often for their own distributions, raise funds through Against Malaria. We do not take a cut or a fee so 100% of the funds these groups raise buys nets for them.

As stated in the Articles of Association of the Foundation, the official document describing our purpose, our aims are:

"...the relief of suffering from malaria by the provision of funds for the prevention and/or treatment of malaria and the advancement of education in the subjects of a) the problems and suffering caused by malaria and b) what can be done to alleviate them."

More specifically, 100% of the money we receive buys long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets (LLINs). Via distribution partnerships, these nets end up over heads and beds and we demonstrate that has happened (see Our approach).

Note: The Against Malaria Foundation is the new name for the World Swim For Malaria Foundation. The change of name is currently being made across all countries and whilst this takes place some details may still refer to the old charity name.

		Australia The Against Malaria Foundation (Australia) Ltd is a charity established in Australia. Our Australian Company Number (ACN) is 120 213 701. 		United States of America The Against Malaria Foundation is registered as exempt from federal income tax and exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code - federal identification number 20-3069841. In addition, where appropriate and in order to comply with local legislative fund-raising requirements, the Foundation is also registered at state level. 		New Zealand The Against Malaria Foundation (New Zealand) is a tax exempt organisation under section CW 34 of the Income Tax Act 2004. IRD number 94-357-039. The Foundation is now included in section KC 5(1) of the Income Tax Act 2004 which lists the organisations that qualify for charitable donee status.
